Toronto Micro Wedding – Ashley + Steve

Real Weddings

When A first got in touch for her wedding florals, I remember feeling the enthusiasm from her email. She had sent me inspiration photos from my Instagram, which is always such a compliment, and knew it was going to be wonderful working with A+S.

Originally, they were supposed to get married at Toronto City Hall and then make their way to Toronto’s Hy’s Steakhouse for a private and intimate dinner surrounded by their closest family and friends.

With just over a week left to go for their wedding day, Toronto was hit with another set of restrictions, including no in-restaurant dining. A was quick to email me and the rest of their vendors and we pulled it together. For me, it was a simple change of venue – their home in Toronto. Easy peasy!

A wanted simple, classic florals. I wanted to obviously bring all the ruffles – so as per usual and in keeping with our aesthetic, I used Quicksand roses for a subtle hint of muted blush, fragrant White O’Hara garden roses, Playa Blanca roses, white majolica spray roses, white ranunculus, autumn eucalyptus, a touch of silver dollar eucalyptus – and a new fave, explosion grass! It’s going to be hard not to use explosion grass in every design I do because, my goodness, the way the light captures that delicate wispy texture is just everything.

I wanted to help bring in some of that ambiance that they would have experienced at Hy’s and although it wasn’t the same, I offered to bring along some of our antique tapered candlesticks for their dining room table just to bring that little extra “something”.

A and S held the ceremony in their cute little backyard, but before that, they headed to Toronto’s Distillery District and then to Centennial Park for some beautiful photos, captured by Samantha Ong Photo. I had worked with her before at another wedding at Ancaster Mill and they way she captures light and of course, the blooms (!), is always absolutely stunning.

Congratulations A and S. it was a pleasure to work with the both of you and to be a part of your special day. So happy that we were able to bring it all together in such a short timeframe, but it was all beautiful!
